One of the oldest towns in the Mediterranean, Stari Grad unveils the colorful history and cultural heritage of Hvar Island. Jelsa Wine Festival (Jelsa, August) the biggest wine festival on the Adriatic, Donkey races, tug of war, climbing the rope for the prsut, and many other fun activities for all the family, it is the biggest party of the year in Jelsa.
Puhijada Edible Dormouse Festival (Dol, August) the annual Puhijada, or edible Dormouse festival.

Organized by the Zvir Sailing Club, Hvar saw the 41st edition of the International New Year Rqegatta for the Laser Standard, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7 and Optimist classes, with 150 sailors from 11 nations participating.
